Even though the fat albert hopper pattern came out since this fly was originated I would still take this fly over that one any day of the week. However, both are great imitations of big hopper patterns that produce big browns where brown trout key in on this kind of stuff. But I still would prefer fishing this pattern. The best colors by far are pink and tan and then the rest follow depending on your discretion or the type of water your fishing. Each fishery can be different on the color the trout seem to want, but around here the trout like pink and then tan, maybe orange occasionally. Ok, I'm wondering off....Good luck and happy tying my fellow fly fishers!! I usually only tie these in size 6. Reason being, the brown trout like them better in this size.
